Redundancy pay rate and tribunal award increases from 1 February 2012

From 1st February 2012 we will see new limits for payments for unfair dismissal and redundancy, together with increases in awards made to workers in certain employment rights cases.

These increases include the following:

- the limit on the amount of a week’s pay for the purpose of calculating statutory redundancy pay will increase from £400 to £430

- the limit on amount of guarantee pay payable to an employee increases from £22.20 to £23.50

- the limit on the maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal increases from £68,400 to £72,300.

These increased awards apply in respect of redundancy and other dismissals that take effect on or after 1 February 2012.
